Just like the delight you'd feel the first time you got to be in a live audience and witness Kim Jones' masterful work for Fendi during its Couture Spring/Summer 2022 show, Singaporeans got to experience the same. Chosen as the first Southeast Asian country to host the 'World of Fendi' event at the ArtScience Museum, Singapore was the first in the region to get intimate with the Maison's savoir-faire in fur, leather goods and innovative craftsmanship.
With over 90 years in the fur business, the Italian house displayed the myriad of methods and techniques it's developed to transform fur into unexpected shapes and in new brilliant colours. This was seen aplenty on the 12 silhouettes that were picked out from the collection to grace the space – their ethereal presence accented by intricate embroidery, dashes of duchesse silk and organza, and tonal paintings of the classical statues that are located outside of Fendi's headquarters, Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana. They even managed to make fur look like lace—now that's the kind of fashion drama we're living for.
Guests were offered the opportunity to take home customised fur memorabilia. Modern furs such as fur varsity jackets were available for personalisation with signature motifs like the FF and Karligraphy logo elements.
Also in attendance were Fendi's iconic Peekaboo and Baguette bags, as well as the Fendi First – all suited up in exotic leather with over 50 different combinations. Put together with digital animations that narrated the past and ongoing romance between Fendi and Rome, the experience was entirely immersive with its elegance and made memorable with the Maison's sheer textural prowess.
This prestigious by-appointment-only event follows the opening of Fendi's women’s ready-to-wear, accessories and leather goods section at their Marina Bay Sands flagship earlier in February.
