As the white male population's fascination with a man dressed in a cape never ends, we already know we're getting yet another batman movie (thanks Matt Reeves). And unlike Joaquin Phoenix's Joker, reactions to Robert Pattinson's casting as the cowled crusader has been mixed. But now we finally have something to look forward to, because ZOË KRAVITZ IS PLAYING CATWOMAN.
Warner Bros. has confirmed the actress as the infamous Selina Kyle, who will be the fourth embodiment of the persona on the big screen alongside the performances of Michelle Pfeiffer (unquestionable), Halle Berry (questionable), and Anne Hathaway (we're going to say mildly questionable still). While we couldn't fully wrap our heads around Kristen Wiig as Cheetah, Kravitz in this feline suit seems to make perfect sense.
She's played Catwoman before
In 2017's The Lego Batman movie, she lent her voice to the antihero. It can't be said for sure how big a part it played in this casting, but it clearly didn't hurt. The stepdaughter of Aquaman star Jason Momoa evidently shares a passion for the DC character, considering how she made prior attempts to join the comic universe.
She was previously denied an audition
For Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, Kravitz was unable to audition, only citing that they weren't "going urban". What a win this is now that she will be one of the story's titular characters. She joins Westworld's Jeffrey Wright, who will be playing Commissioner Gordon, and potentially Jonah Hill, who is in talks for a villain role.
The Batman is slated for June 2021.
